1. Determine Your Motive
Wind customers have a variety of reasons to use wind power. Some want to gain a competitive edge in the green economy or be leaders for future generations. Others simply want the right to bear their own power. Review your electricity bill to determine how many kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity you are consuming annually. This will be the foundation for our Wind Specialists to determine the wind turbine that fits your electrical usage.
2. Contact Greenway Renewable Energy
Our highly-trained Wind Specialists will ensure your journey to renewable energy is a smooth one. Have your utility statements ready to go before hand and strongly consider your long-term objectives.
3. Turbine Selection
Our Wind Specialist will help you select an Endurance wind turbine and tower configuration that fits your proposed wind turbine site and your specific electricity requirements.
4. Your Wind Resource
We will help you to determine what the average annual wind speed is at your proposed turbine site, and use this information to give you an annual energy production estimate for the site and the turbine. We’ll also review the projected energy production, over-all project costs, applicable incentive programs, current cost and consumption of electricity, and expected rate of electricity rate increase. With this information, our Wind Specialist will put together a financial model and ROI for your proposed wind turbine purchase.
5. Site Evaluation
The site evaluation is the most-important step in distributed wind. As the end-user, your machine will be producing power for over 30 years. A properly sited project is critical. There are hundreds of considerations our team will make to determine feasibility. We will review your proposed turbine site to gather the following information:
• Site proximity to electrical service - within 500 ft recommended
• Site suitability for tower installation - is there sufficient space to install and erect an wind turbine?
• Site suitability for steady wind flow - is the site free of obstructions that would interrupt wind flow and reduce the productivity of the wind turbine?
6. Utility and Local Agreements
Your Greenway Renewable Wind Specialist will work with you to fill out the necessary paper work required to secure the following:
• Any local permits and variances required by your local municipality for the installation and operation of your wind turbine
• Inter-Connection application and net metering agreements with the power utility or cooperative serving your area
• Federal, state and utility incentives - a combination of loans, grants, rebates, tax credits and production based programs that can significantly improve the economics of your wind turbine purchase and operation
